What are the top 5 most viewed YouTube music videos (so far)

Have you ever wondered about what are the most watched YouTube songs of all time?

Youtube was released in 2005, and countless videos have been uploaded to the site since then. Numerous singers made it to reach large audiences simply from creating a channel or just by recording a single song in front of a camera that later on went viral. By now, many people have become rich from uploading different videos, content creators are always competing for views and some have reached epic success which we will demonstrate in this article.

Of course, over the years, a lot of favorites were born, but in this instance we are presenting a list that shows which Youtube videos were watched the most times by the end of 2021. So right now, as of October 2021, these are the most popular videos on the platform.

The view count no longer stops at the ‘hundreds of millions’ – we are now counting in BILLIONS of views. And if you are trying to guess the number #1, well here’s a hint: it’s not Gangnam Style… And not even Despacito. Read on to find out more…

So the question is, who is number one?

and secondly… which video is your favorite?

Top Youtube songs of all time

1. Baby Shark Dance

With 9.5+ billion views, this video leads the list, would you have thought? One kid’s song stands in front of all the other videos. Producing over seven billion viewers, the ultra-simple children’s video beat previous record holder, Puerto Rican Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s 2017 world hit song Despacito (we’ll talk about them more in a little while).

The catchy ‘shark’ melody resulted in a series of hit products, books and other items evoking Baby Shark, as well as a number of reworkings. One of the remakes actually involved Luis Fonsi, and during the coronavirus epidemic, a hand-washing version also spread online,  let’s just say as fast as the virus itself. Interesting fact that the Shark song’s author – children’s songwriter Jonathan Wright – sued Pinkfong in 2019, arguing that since he made a similar version of the song in 2011, he owns the copyright to Baby Shark. The case has not yet yielded any results in front of court and is still pending decision about who is the rightful owner of the song.

2. Luis Fonsi – Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee

Despacito achieved 7.5+ billion views. I think we’ve all heard this music before. Still not bored of it? Some people sure are. It has been covered and remixed thousands of times and who knows how many re-uploads it has on youtube in many different versions and languages. The total view count of this song is probably even more astronomical if we take those into account.

3. Ed Sheeran – Shape of You

Another Music video that you’ve probably heard before, as it’s still happening from the tap to this day. The music has 5.4+ billion views so far.

Would you believe that this ginger young fella was not long ago sleeping on Jamie Foxx’s couch looking to get discovered by some producer in the music industry. And nowadays, he is raking in some of the highest view counts in Internet history.

4. Wiz Khalifa – See You Again ft. Charlie Puth

The song was made for the soundtrack of the 2015 action movie Furious 7, in honor of actor Paul Walker, who died in a car accident on November 30, 2013 in Valencia, California. It has since generated 5.1+ billion viewers.

5.  Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk ft Mark Ronson

It’s slowly becoming clear which videos are on the list the most: either music or a “fairy tale” for kids. But meanwhile, Uptown Funk generated 4.3+ billion views.

5+1 PSY – Gangnam Style

Back in 2012, like a storm from South Korea, a new artist hit the internet and quickly took over the most watched video title for a while. But we don’t even understand what the music is about… It’s been at 4.2+ billion views since then .

How to get so popular on Youtube?

The formula seems simple if you want to make a lot of money on YouTube or you make a video for kids with melodic animated video or you break right into the music industry.
